Passport Service in Indonesia

Indonesia offers passport service to all its citizens, both within and outside its territory. This service is available at all Immigration Offices throughout the country and is administered by the Directorate General of Immigration (Direktorat Jenderal Imigrasi).

There are two types of passport in Indonesia: regular ordinary passports and diplomatic passports, each issued by a different issuing authority. The latter is used for diplomatic missions and also covers the family members of the main passport holder cara bikin paspor.

The ordinary non-electronic passport depicts signatures of the bearer and the issuing authority, which are done manually during the interview by an Immigration Officer. Those who wish to travel to a country with this type of passport should obtain the appropriate 'non-diplomatic' visa or entry clearance prior to their departure from Indonesia.

A new passport is obtained if the old one expires or becomes defective. This is a process that may take as little as one year, though it can be shortened to only four weeks by submitting the application with the fee and payment code ahead of time. The applicant can then track the status of their application on the Department of State website.

If the passport is lost, a Foreigner's Report of Identity Loss must be filed in order for a replacement to be issued. If this is the case, a copy of the original passport must be attached along with a copy of the report and the corresponding form.

Alternatively, a passport can be obtained by attaching a letter from the issuing authority stating that there is no reason to deny the application. This letter must be submitted with a copy of the applicant's ID and copies of any other valid documents that prove citizenship.

There is a minimum age requirement of sixteen years to apply for an Indonesian passport. If the child does not meet this minimum age, a statement from a parent or guardian must be presented in support of the request to obtain a passport.

In addition, a birth certificate must be presented. The certificate must indicate the date and place of birth, the parents' names and the child's name and address.

A passport renewal for those who have a current passport and are planning to travel to Indonesia is required by all foreigners who are going to reside in the country for more than thirty days. Those who are unsure whether they require a passport to enter Indonesia should check with the Indonesian Embassy in their country of residence.

For those who want to change their passport, they can also do so by registering for a new passport through the M-Paspor application. This application is available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play. Once registered, the application will be available for download and can be completed online or offline.

Applicants who wish to use the M-Paspor application can log in with their KTP number and password. They will then be able to select which immigration office to visit and when, and will then be notified when their application is complete.
